St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office Holding Active Shooter Seminar

The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office is responding to requests from the public for an Active Shooter Incident Seminar.

Sgt. Chuck Mulligan says this is something they’ve been doing over the past year and law enforcement officers have been trained on incidents like this since the 1999 shooting incident at Columbine High School.

The recent mass shooting in Las Vegas is what prompted the desire to conduct another seminar.

It's scheduled for October 19 at Pedro Menendez High School from 7-9:30pm.

Mulligan says this is not a hands-on class but they will answer questions.

He says this type of information is important for the public because they need to know what to do when law enforcement arrives on the scene to respond to this type of incident.
